Electricty sites up for auction
Tuesday 5th May 2009, 10:40AM BST.
Money making entrepreneurs with an eye for a bargain are set to snap up several electricity sub stations in Telford that will go under the hammer next week.
Nine of the sub stations are being sold in two lots with a guide price of £1,000 per lot by auctioneers Colliers in London on May 12.
The stations in Halesfield, Coppice View, in Rough Park, Nedge Hill, Beaconsfield, in Brookside, Conroy Drive, in Heath Hill, Colliers Way, The Rock, Granger Drive, in Leegomery, Hadley Park and Priorslee Avenue, Priorslee, have been put up for sale by the Homes and Communities Agency – formerly known as English Partnerships – which owns the sites and leases them to Central Network.
Auctioneer Simon Riggall said the lots were an attractive business proposition.
“This is an opportunity for people who own a large portfolio of similar properties.
“They will buy them and then lease them back to electricity companies for a fee,” he added.
“Some of these are particularly attractive because in some cases there are no leases in places so it is open to negotiation.”
Mr Riggall added: “We expect half a dozen serious bidders with one or two other attracted by a cheap deal.
“The guide price is £1,000 but I expect them to go for more.”
