Win or bust as boss rallies Town

Shrewsbury Town were today finalising their preparations for promotion D-day at Dagenham & Redbridge – with manager Paul Simpson warning only a “complete performance” will suffice.
Town head south for a win-or-bust final weekend of the season as they put their entire season’s endeavours on the line during 90 nerve-shredding minutes.
Victory would see Shrewsbury leapfrog their hosts to book their place in the play-offs.
A home victory or draw would be enough for Dagenham to move within three games of breaking into the third tier of English football for the first time.
Simpson is confident his team have enough to produce the goods when it matters most, and admits they will have to be at their best to keep their season alive.
“Although we have talked about being brave and that is important, it’s also about being calm and assured about what you are dong,” said the Town boss.
“Assured in your clearances, assured in your crossing and your finishing.
“It will take a complete performance to get that result and that’s what we are looking for.
“I’m confident we have enough in there. If I didn’t think these players were good enough, I would have made even more changes along the way.
“I’m not treating Dagenham with any disrespect at all because I’ve seen them, I know what their threats are and I know how effective they are.
“But we are focusing on us and we are determined to make sure we do it right.”
Simpson believes his side could capitalise on some uncertainty in the Dagenham mindset as they wrestle with the dilemma of pushing for victory, while knowing defeat will end their campaign.
“We know that we haven’t got anything at the moment,” he added. “They have it and it’s theirs to lose which adds a bit of pressure as well.
“The way they have been successful is by being positive and forward thinking so I would be very surprised if they do anything different.
Town have been boosted by the return to training of strike pair Omer Riza and Moses Ashikodi, while Kevin McIntyre comes into contention after recovering from a broken leg.
