Sir Michael Caine arrives for the gala premiere of Is Anybody There? at the Curzon Mayfair in London.
British screen acting legend Sir Michael Caine has hinted that he may be about to retire from movies at the age of 76.
The 76-year-old actor stars as a retired magician, Clarence, who befriends a young boy whose parents run a retirement home in new British film Is Anybody There?
The Zulu and Get Carter star says he only has small parts in the pipeline.
He said he did not have “a proper” movie role ahead, adding: “And if one doesn’t come along that I want to do. I will be gone. I will be retired. So that’s how it is with me now.”
What do you think are his greatest roles? Do you think film stars have something to offer audiences as they get towards their 80s or should they bow out?
And what are his most memorable screen quotes?

The Man Who Would Be King was brilliant
Italian Job – “You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off”
Cider House Rules was so poignant
Second Hand Lions was so funny
Ipcress File was a classic

Best Quote gotta be “you’re a big man, but you’re in bad shape. With me it’s a full time job so behave yourself!” AWSOME!

One of the really greats. If he does retire I can’t wait for the re run tributes to him. So many brilliant roles!

Peter: I was thinking along the same lines. Whilst I wish Michael Caine a long a happy retirement, I am however looking forward to a cracking Michael Caine season with loads of re-showing of his great films (with so many it last a year)when he dies.
