Bore draw for Bucks
Monday 27th April 2009, 8:10AM BST.
The Bucks made a number of changes for the game against Tamworth at the New Bucks Head, although it was a game that meant little to either side, writes blogger Joe Davies.
Tamworth were already champions and, having already secured our place in the play-offs, Rob Smith and Larry Chambers obviously felt it was a good time to give their lads a rest and let them recharge their batteries for the two-legged semi against Alfreton Town.
The likes of Jimmy Turner, Matty Lewis and Emike Nwadike came in to allow others a rest while Scott Embrey impressed on his first start.
Jamie Vermiglio also got the 45 minutes he was promised by Smith earlier this week.
The fact that Embrey impressed on his debut is a good sign that some of the local talent is getting the chance they need, but it is doubtful he will be given the chance to further impress in a Telford shirt if we get promoted.
Vermiglio came back into the fold much to the delight of numerous fans, not forgetting how good he must have felt himself playing so soon after being told he may never play again.
As everyone associated with Telford knows, he has never been one to give up easily and his determination has been rewarded with his 45 minute comeback on Saturday.
The game itself was a fairly dull affair with chances few and far between, but that could have been expected.
Jimmy Turner had a header disallowed after five minutes, but it was Tamworth who had the best chances in the game and could have had three, but Ricketts, Nicholson and Rodman all wasted good opportunities.
We now look ahead to the play-off semis against Alfreton and we must get a good result in the first leg at home.
It is going to be a hard task, but one we are more than capable of, especially as we now have the majority of the squad fit again as well as Brown looking on track to make the play offs after a spell on the sidelines.
Jon Adams will also be hoping to make the game on Wednesday after going of injured in the 88th minute on Saturday.
