VW fans to gather for charity event
Friday 24th April 2009, 12:30PM BST.
A local Volkswagen enthusiasts group has organised its first ever show locally at Brimfield, Ludlow as a charity event for Megan Baker House.
One of the organiser, Gavin Butler said the local group is expecting VW vehicles from all over the country to turn up at the bank holiday weekend show that will be held at Woofferton Grange Farm, Brimfield, Friday May 1 through to Sunday, May 3.
“We are anticipating at least 250 cars and possibly more. It is a fun weekend where people can bring their classic cars like the beetle, and camper van and it will be very much a retro 60s and 70s event where everyone can enjoy a relaxing weekend and the show is open to anyone who wants to come along.”
Gates will open Friday, May 1 at 4.30pm until 8pm. Saturday, May 2 at 8am to 8pm and Sunday, May 3 at 8am to 4.30pm. Admission fee will be £7.50 per person all weekend or £5 per person per day with under 12s free. Entry will include camping for the weekend.
The show will include a vehicle treasure hunt, fully licensed bar, graffiti display, children and adult entertainment, and local live bands including ‘Druids Brew’. There will be a firework display on Saturday, May 2.
All profits from the show will go to the Leominster based charity, Megan Baker House, that offers free conductive education and helps children and adults with cerebral palsy and Parkinson’s disease and those who have suffered a stroke, brain damage or head injury.
Megan Baker House founder, Jo Baker Watson said that she was delighted that the VW group had chosen to fund raise for Megan Baker House: “We are always so grateful for these fund raising efforts as we have no statutory funding and rely totally on efforts like this.
“It helps us continue to give the children and adults the support they need to help them live independent lives.”
