Music to resume at pub

Friday 24th April 2009, 12:37PM BST.

A pub near Oswestry that fell foul of music licensing rules is to resume jamming sessions – after the landlord spent months and hundreds of pounds in obtaining the correct licence following a complaint.

The Tuesday night sessions were silenced at the Barley Mow in Trefonen after four weeks when the council received a complaint it did not have a live music licence.

Landlord Derek Jones halted the sessions – started by villagers – after being warned he was breaking the law.

Mr Jones said it had taken him more than three months to get the licence sorted out but he was delighted to be able to officially resume the sessions on Tuesday at 8pm.

He said: “I had absolutely no idea I needed a licence for live music and it has cost me a couple of hundred pounds to sort it out.”

Shropshire Council confirmed Mr Jones had the appropriate licence for the jam sessions.
