River body identified

A body recovered from the River Severn in Shrewsbury was today identified as being a man who has been missing from the town for more than three months.

Trevor Oliver, 49, was reported missing from his home in New Street on January 16 and a hunt was launched to find him.

Police recovered a body from the River Severn on Sunday afternoon after a group of canoeists spotted it along a stretch of the waterway in the Monkmoor area of Shrewsbury.

Dental records had to be used to identify the body. An inquest is due to be opened over the next few days.
