Lift rescue for pupils

Thursday 23rd April 2009, 10:51AM BST.

Firefighters came to the rescue of four youngsters who got stuck in a lift at a Shropshire school.

The Year 7 students had been on their way to a science lesson when they got stuck in a lift at Sir John Talbot’s Technology College in Whitchurch at 10.45am yesterday.

School bosses praised the “absolutely outstanding” way in which the children coped and the efforts of staff and firefighters.

Ian Johnson, crew commander from Whitchurch fire station, said: “We administered oxygen to the one girl because she was a little bit shaken.”
