Entrepreneur back in UK for launch
Thursday 23rd April 2009, 9:44AM BST.
A Shropshire internet entrepreneur is about to launch a site that he hopes will take the web by storm.
Chris Evans, who is 30 and grew up at Rowton, near High Ercall, is expanding his Blouzar Ltd empire, which includes the controversial websites Miss Bimbo, a virtual online fashion game, and Little Hooliganz, a game for football fans.
Mr Evans is currently based in Hyderabad, in India, but has flown back to London for Saturday’s launch of My-Queen.com at a private member’s club in London’s The Strand.
He said: “At long, long last I’m home. I moved to India last year to set up an office for my internet company Blouzar Ltd. But I’m back in the UK to prepare for the launch of a new internet site, called My-Queen.com
“I’d love to be home in my native Shropshire, with family and friends, but instead I’m in London, preparing for a launch party. Our websites have more than one million users, so they take a lot of work.”
Mr Evans added that the last few months had been a busy blur but he hoped that the launch on Saturday would go well.
He said: “All of my attention now is focused on Saturday’s launch. Move over Facebook and MySpace, My-Queen.com is the queen of the worldwide web.
“I am very nervous about it because we have hired the drag queen DJ Jodie Harsh. It’s the first time we have ventured into the celebrity world, so dealing with PR firms and agents is sometimes rather frustrating and annoying.
“But hopefully it will be fun and everyone will have a good time. A lot of my friends from Shropshire will be there, as well as a handful of celebrities. It should be a blast.”
Mr Evans added that he enjoyed being back in England because India was a very stressful country to live in.
He said: “The heat is relentless and draining.”
