Telford model Kundayi O'Hanlon

A Telford woman is hoping to race to victory in a competition to become one of the new faces of motorsport.

Twenty-six-year-old Kundayi O’Hanlon, from Donnington Wood, has been shortlisted as one of the top 100 models in a contest to become a Grid Girl with the Thundersport GB racing series.

The organisers now want people to vote for their favourite to find 12 women to feature on the Thundersport GB 2010 official calendar and for one to be crowned Miss Thundersport GB 2009.

They will take part in promotional events at racing tracks across the UK including Oulton Park and Brands Hatch as well as take part in magazine photoshoots.

Their photos will also feature on the website of lads’ mag, Loaded.

Kundayi, who is currently taking an access course at Telford College with a view to becoming a nurse, already works as a part-time model.

She said: “I have been doing some part time modelling for fashion and swimwear for about two years. I had a friend who entered the Grid Girl competition and suggested I give it a go.”

The student, who moved to the town from Wolverhampton two years ago with husband Paul, said she wanted as many people as possible to vote for her.

“I’ve only got five votes at the moment so I need some more. I’m quite keen on motorsports, too,” she said.

“My husband’s uncle has got a motorbike that I go on the back of that sometimes so I really want to be a Grid Girl.”
