Beach rescue for town family

Coastguards were called out to help a Mid Wales pensioner who fell and injured his arm on the beach at Borth and a family from Telford whose vehicle got stuck at nearby Ynys Las.
The rescue of the 69-year-old man from Caersws happened on Sunday. Rescuers were called out yesterday to help the Telford family.
Jane Griffiths, of Milford Haven Coastguard, said today: “We received a call from ambulance control at 12.25pm on Sunday requesting assistance in the incident on Borth beach.
“Borth Coast Rescue Team helped a 69-year-old man who had suffered an arm injury after falling. He was taken by ambulance to Bronglais Hospital.
“The gentleman was from Caersws and had caused his injuries when he fell on rocks while walking on the beach.”
She said yesterday Milford Haven Coastguard received a call at 6.45am from Dyfed-Powys Police reporting a people carrier stuck on the beach at Ynys Las near Borth.
“Borth Coast Rescue team assisted with the removal of the the vehicle to a safe position on the beach. The occupants, two adults and five children, were from Telford,” she said.
Miss Griffiths said the coastguard along the Welsh coast had been busy throughout the weekend.
“The fine weather had undoubtedly brought visitors to our county, together with the school holidays,” she said.
