Shropshire soap queen Gabrielle Drake is set to make a comeback to the small screen after landing a role in Coronation Street – in which she first appeared more than 40 years ago.
The 65-year-old actress, who lives in Much Wenlock, became a living room favourite starring in the Midlands-based soap opera Crossroads.
Gabrielle was due to start filming scenes for the Street today.
She is said to be playing a posh, elegant character called Vanessa who is involved with a lonely hearts club who according to reports meets Corrie characters Bill Webster and Pam Hobsworth.
The Sun newspaper today reported a source saying: “Gabrielle is involved in a funny storyline which sees her and her partner eyeing up Bill and Pam when they meet in a hotel.”
Gabrielle, who has been starring in theatre productions for the past few years, first appeared in Coronation Street in 1967 when she played a sexy Swede called Inga Olsen.

Sister of the superbly talented but troubled Nick Drake. Made 3 albums in the 70′s all of which sold poorly. Rediscovered in the 80′s by the next generation of songwriters and finally given the acclaim that he tragically never lived to see. Suggest a Wiki read and a Youtube visit.

I have all three albums – a superb songwriter and performer. It’s also surprising just how much of his music is used as incidental music on TV these days.
