Chance to view plans for town

Friday 17th April 2009, 2:59PM BST.

An ambitious scheme to transform the centre of Oswestry, building a supermarket and cinema on its main car park, was being unveiled in the town today.

People have the chance to view proposals for a new town centre foodstore – which include underground parking – at a public exhibition.

It is the latest proposal in Oswestry’s latest “store wars” battle which is pitting developer against developer.

Proposals for a foodstore, retail and leisure development on the Central Car Park site will be on display at the Wynnstay Hotel today between 11am and 8pm and tomorrow, between 10am and 4pm.

Representatives of the Oswestry-based developer, J Ross Developments, are on hand to discuss their proposals further with members of the public.

Plans have already been submitted by three rival bidders to Shropshire Council.
