Happy Campers heading to show
Thursday 16th April 2009, 12:29PM BST.
Thousands of Volkswagen fans are heading for Oswestry for the sixth annual Camper Van Show.
The event will be held at the Oswestry Parkhall Showground – with crowds of at least 6,500 expected.
Dean Bergeson, one of the organisers, said people will be attending from tomorrow to camp over the weekend.
The show itself will be held on Sunday from 9am until 4pm with a host of attractions on offer for families.
Attractions will include a host of VW Camper van displays, including Show and Shine, more than 120 trade stalls, club displays, a for sale area, autojumble and more.
In previous years traders have come from as far as Poland, Germany and the USA in order to attend the event.
Refreshments and a licensed bar will be available on the site as well as fun rides for children.
Mr Bergeson said: “We usually have about 6,500 over the weekend – visitors and campers – depending on the weather.
“The show has been growing every year and we always have a good attendance.”
Admission is £7 for adults, £3 for children and senior citizens, and free for under 11s.
Last year the event was held in Uttoxeter but organisers decided to bring it back to Oswestry where they say they have more camping space and extra facilities.
