Robbery attempt on boy, 14

Wednesday 15th April 2009, 2:17PM BST.

A teenage boy was followed by a youth who searched his pockets after he walked away from a cashpoint in Telford.

The 14-year-old had been to the cashpoint outside Somerfield in Stirchley when a group of youths became abusive towards him at about 7pm on Thursday.

The teenager walked away towards the sports centre and realised he was being followed.

In an alleyway between Stirchley Primary School and the Swan Centre a youth caught up with him and searched his pockets.

As he did this, a group of other people started walking towards them. The youth stopped what he was doing and walked away.

The victim ran off and called police, who are treating it as an attempted robbery.

Information to police at Telford on 0300 333 3000.
