Motorist drove at car park woman
Wednesday 15th April 2009, 3:17PM BST.
A woman suffered a severe asthma attack after a motorist allegedly deliberately drove at her in a Bridgnorth car park.
The woman was standing in a vacant parking space at Sainsbury’s at about 12.10pm on Saturday and had signalled to her daughter that she had found somewhere for her to park.
A man driving a blue, 07 registration, Kia Cee’d drove into the space and deliberately nudged the woman’s leg with his vehicle to try to get her to move, police say.
A few moments later, other people returned to their cars and other spaces became vacant.
The driver is alleged to have driven away as though he was going to park in another space but instead reversed backwards at speed towards the woman, forcing her back in the space and hemming her in against the car behind.
She was not injured but was so distressed and shaken that she suffered an asthma attack.
Constable Heidi Bate, of Bridgnorth police, said a number of people would have seen what happened.
“The man was driving the car and he also had a female passenger, both of whom are alleged to have been laughing at the victim during the incident,” she said.
“We know that a lot of people would have seen this happen as the car park was very busy at the time.”
Witnesses can call police on 0300 3333000.

Did the woman think she had a right to block the parking space to retain it for her daughter? I would in the same circumstances have driven up close to the woman and then left my car there.

I hate it when people ‘save’ spaces. What gives them the right? Not that I’m condoning this mans actions btw.

Bet she puts the towels out on the sunbeds when she goes on holidays too.
Then complains when someone throws them in the pool.

What was this woman doing standing in a car parking space?
These are bay’s marked out for anyone to park there cars in. In my opinion this woman was in the wrong “saving the space for her daughter”, the Gent in question was perfectly within his rights to pull into the space, more fool the woman for standing in his way!

I just love these comments. I imagine the woman in question is probably expecting sympathy, and what does she get – the opposite!

I had never been to Bridgnorth before but was told about the Market and carboot that happen on a saturday so decided to go along.
I also parked on this Sainsburys Carpark on the day this happend, I arrived around 11.30 and it was hectic, I spent about 10 minutes circling the car park looking for a space, Yes it is wrong for someone to stand in a space, especially if they are saving it for someone at the back of the car queue. It also enoys me most though when spotting a space, someone else comes down the wrong way system and parks in it.
Hope this lady was not hurt to much and hope this is a Lesson Learnt.

Although I have sympathy with this lady, she had no right to stand in a car park space. I hope she has learnt her lesson.

I have no sympathy for the woman and her daughter who is such a muppet she needs someone to find her a space on foot!!!
However, I would not have done what the driver did – I would have at least given her some verbal abuse before running her over.

Bridgenorth sounds like a petty small minded little town full of six knuckled cave dwellers to me! Don’t forget to send your brother a fathers day card you locals !

Yes lady was in wrong to try to keep space, but why is everyone so sick to laugh at someone trying to run her down !!!! hope someone does it to them, what goes around comes around. Bridgnorth USED to be a lovely place to live, not any more though, yes lol very funny, but what if it was your mum would you be laughing then, think not, best thing to do is avoid the shop, if they can’t provide enough spaces then don’t use it easy as that. Can’t park, can’t shop sorted !!!!!!!!

I agree that the woman was wrong in saving the space, but, listen to yourselves. The idea that trying to run someone over for saving a parking spot being ok is dead wrong, and I hope he get’s arrested. Parking is at a premium in B’north but never the less, I hope the driver is found.

I totally agree with all these comments How rude and arrogant of this woman to do this – it doesn’t matter that there might have been spaces becoming free afterwards – this man might have been waiting ages, then just as he gets his space this woman comes along and nicks it off him.

KJ, that is a little unfair, but I see your point of view.
The days of being polite are sadly fading, but surely this lady knew what she was letting herself in for? To drive at her is pretty drastic, but she knew she would possibly get verbal abuse. It is the way society, not just Bridgnorth, is today.
By the way…. GIMME SIX!
