Spooky tales are sought

Tuesday 14th April 2009, 1:50PM BST.

ghost-on-benchA group of ghost hunters is looking for spooky sightings in the Newport area.

West Midlands Ghost Club wants to hear from anyone in and around the town who might have a ghostly tale to tell or can recommend sites to perform paranormal investigations.

John Conway, club spokesman, said: “We want to hear from people who have had any paranormal experiences or somewhere they would like us to further our studies.

“Newport is a town steeped in history and we are hoping to receive a great response from this appeal.”

Mr Conway added: “Since television programmes like Most Haunted were created, commercial cowboy groups pledge to rid ghosts for money.

“We are an individual group that is purely objective, we don’t do this for financial gain and have no involvement with psychics or mediums.”

I have had dealings with the west Midlands ghost club before and some of the more recently formed ghost groups and it has to be said the wmgc are leagues ahead of the rest in their field.
