Man, 24, seriously injured in attack

A man suffered serious facial injuries when he was punched and kicked by another man after an argument in Telford.
The pair, who were known to each other, had just got off a bus in the Randlay area when the attack happened.
Police said today the 24-year-old victim, who lives in Telford, was likely to need surgery for his injuries.
He was initially taken to Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital but transferred to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment last night.
Stirchley Avenue was sealed off by police after the attack on Saturday from 7.10pm until about lunch-time yesterday.
The bus stop where the men got off was at the junction of Abbeyfields and Stirchley Avenue.
Detective Sergeant Andy Garrett, of Telford CID, said the 24-year-old had ended up on the ground during the attack when he was punched and kicked.
He said today: “This was an extremely serious assault.
“It is believed that both males had been travelling together on the number 44 bus prior to the incident.
“I am appealing to anybody who may have seen this incident or anybody who was travelling on the number 44 bus to contact the CID at Malinsgate police station on 0300 3333000.”
l A 25-year-old Randlay man was arrested a couple of hours after the incident and was today due to appear at Telford Magistrates Court in connection with the assault.
