Schoolboy hailed a hero

A Shropshire schoolboy was today hailed a hero after coming to the aid of a man who suffered a serious head injury in a fall.
Rob Jones, 14, stood in a busy road to flag down passing motorists to help after he discovered 26-year-old Anthony Wood lying unconscious and face down in his garden.
Rhyn Park School pupil Rob helped put Mr Wood in the recovery position and called for an ambulance on his mobile phone.
He stayed with Mr Wood, of Ferndale Crescent, until paramedics took him to Wrexham Maelor Hospital where he is recovering from a bruise to the brain.
Mr Wood’s mother Sue Cheetham said her son had not yet regained full consciousness following the March 25 fall but added Rob’s prompt actions ensured his injuries were not a lot worse.
She said: “I would hate to have thought what could have happened if Robert had not got help so quickly. We think Anthony, who suffers from epilepsy, fell and struck his head on steps outside the house. Nothing like this has happened before.
“Robert was just brilliant and I would like to thank him for everything he did.”
The teenager found Mr Wood as he delivered the Shropshire Star to homes in Gobowen.
Rob, of Beeches Avenue, Gobowen, said: “I just did what I thought was right.”

Very well done Rob Take note all you miserable whingers who think anybody under 50 is a yob…! Amazingly there are lots more out there just like Rob…there are also lots of older people who would have just stepped right over Anthony!
