Friday 10th April 2009, 10:28AM BST.
A 24-year-old woman who died following a crash in which a car she was in left a Shrewsbury road and collided with trees has been named by police as Jodie Lee Kirkham.
Miss Kirkham, of Brookfield, Bayston Hill, died in hospital eight days after the incident, which happened in Hubert Way in the early hours of March 30.
Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of the crash.
Miss Kirkham suffered serious head injuries and lacerations to her face following the crash at about 3am, when a grey MG ZR left the road before striking trees and then coming to rest.
Her condition was initially thought to be very serious but police later said she appeared to be improving and said her condition was no longer thought to be life threatening.
However, Miss Kirkham deteriorated and she died at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Tuesday.
John Ellery, coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, has been made aware of the death and a post-mortem examination took place yesterday, which will be followed by an inquest in due course.
A man in his 20s was also understood to have been in the vehicle at the time of the crash and he was treated in hospital for a facial injury which is not believed to be serious.
The car suffered extensive damage in the incident which is not believed to have involved any other vehicles.
A police investigation has been launched and officers are appealing for witnesses.
