Fire crews save pony from river

Thursday 9th April 2009, 10:56AM BST.

Firefighters rescued a terrified pony after it became stuck in the River Perry at Ruyton-XI-Towns yesterday.

Crews used ropes to pull the animal up the steep bank.

The incident happened at about 4.15pm. A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the crews pulled the pony from the river just before 5pm.
