Deal made for business

Wednesday 8th April 2009, 11:57AM BST.

Shropshire-based McConnel has acquired the tractor fittings business of collapsed Ludlow engineering firm Technorton Ltd.

The agricultural machinery manufacturer, also based in Ludlow, said it was too soon to say whether it would offer jobs to any of the Technorton staff made redundant when the company went into receivership.

Geoffrey Davies OBE, managing director of hedgecutter giant McConnel and of parent company Alamo Group Europe, said: “McConnel has paid an undisclosed sum for the specialist fittings assets and the intellectual property rights associated with them.”
