Inquest on train death cyclist

Monday 6th April 2009, 1:09PM BST.

An inquest on a cyclist who died after being hit by a train at a level crossing in Shropshire is due to be opened and adjourned this week.

The man, who has not yet been named, was killed at Eyton Lane, Baschurch, at 9pm on Friday.

British Transport Police said the man was hit by the 7.09pm Arriva Trains Wales service between Birmingham International and Chester. No-one else was injured in the collision.

A spokeswoman for mid and north Shropshire coroner Mr John Ellery said an inquest would open tomorrow at the earliest.
