3865684Two men in their 20s were arrested after police raided a Shropshire home and discovered about 115 plants believed to be cannabis.

Eight officers carried out a drugs warrant at the home in Copthorne, Shrewsbury.

The raid at the address in Crowmeole Drive took place shortly before 2pm yesterday.

Police said the two men were arrested for suspected drugs offences after officers carried out a search at the premises. The men have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Constable Mark Jones said officers involved in the raid also discovered equipment often associated with growing cannabis.

“We recovered around 115 plants which we believe are cannabis together with a quantity of associated equipment,” he said.

Following the arrest of the two men, police carried out a further search at a home in Ellesmere Road, Shrewsbury, where another 10 plants were found.

These are also believed to be cannabis but all of the plants retrieved will now have to be analysed to determine their type.

A spokesman for West Mercia police today said a quantity of cash was also seized from the home in Ellesmere Road.

Mature cannabis plants can fetch a street value of up to £1,000 per plant.

Cannabis is a naturally occurring substance that can act as a relaxant and mild hallucinogenic.
