A woman had to be cut from the wreckage of her car after it left the road and smashed into a tree on the verge of a narrow country lane in Telford.

The woman, who was aged between 25 and 30 but has not been named, suffered facial injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, following the accident in Cliff Crescent, Ellerdine Heath, last night.

Fifteen firefighters attended at about 11.55pm and on the instructions of paramedics they cut off the Peugeot’s roof so the injured woman could be freed.
