Drayton’s grounds for hope
Thursday 2nd April 2009, 11:00AM BST.
Market Drayton Town have been given the green light to join the UniBond League next season – if they can finish the job of becoming Aspire Midland Alliance champions.
Two officials from the league and one from the Football Association have conducted a final ground grading inspection, and given the club the all-clear for promotion.
“There were quite a few jobs that needed doing after the first ground grading, but the officials were delighted when they came back,” said Drayton chairman Alex Mutch.
“We have got a couple of things that need doing by March 31 next year, but they are things we can look at over the summer.
“We have got the nod and we are all really pleased. Hopefully the team can win the title now.”
Drayton require just 10 points from their last seven games to be Shropshire’s first ever winners of the Alliance.
