Hunt still on after car horror
Monday 30th March 2009, 3:50PM BST.
Police are yet to trace the driver of a lorry which they believe may have been carrying a metal bar that left a 27-year-old Telford man critically injured after it smashed through his windscreen.
Karl Duce, from St Georges, remains in a “critical but stable” condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s specialists head injuries unit.
He was moved from Selly Oak Hospital over the weekend after the horror crash in Wergs Road, Tettenhall, on Wednesday.
Mr Duce suffered serious head injuries when a 3ft long bar is understood to have come off the back of a lorry and smashed through his windscreen as he drove along Wergs Road.
Police today said they had not yet traced the driver of the lorry.
They have studied CCTV footage in the hope of tracing a lorry which the bar may have come from.
They believe it bounced three times, sending it 15 metres along the road before it hit Mr Duce’s Volkswagen Golf.
Mr Duce’s passenger escaped uninjured from the crash.
