TV revenge for county prankster
Friday 27th March 2009, 11:30AM GMT.
Millions of television viewers saw how the tables were turned on Shropshire prankster Dave Venus when he ended up enjoying a singing surprise with ITV 2 star Justin Lee Collins.
Dave, from Stirchley, Telford, was enjoying a knees up at the Three Furnaces pub in Madeley when cameras arrived to interrupt for the Justin Lee Collins Show which was screened at 10pm yesterday.
Dave, a civilian youth inclusion officer at Wellington police station, was mid-way through a karaoke number in the pub when he was surprised on Tuesday night and Justin invited him to duet on You’re The One That I Want from the hit musical Grease.
The hook-up was made possible by a satellite link from Madeley to Justin at a recording studio in London.
Telford FM breakfast show presenter Shuttsie was in on the act and compered the introduction to the set up.
The whole idea was the brainchild of 27-year-old Dave’s mum, Eileen Venus, who wanted to pay him back for all the times he had played tricks on her.
Eileen, from Cardiff, said: “Dave’s always playing tricks on me. He has done ever since he was a youngster.
“I’ve got my own back on him!”
