The aptly-named Beef, written by John Godber and directed by Nick Lane, tells the story of Dave Cookson (played by ex Emmerdale star Matthew Booth) and his quest to achieve the perfect body.

Trapped in his own physique, pigeon-toed, narrow shouldered with a sunken chest, Dave wants to be someone with a body to envy.

But trouble arises when he can’t bring himself to do anything about it, and after endless hours in his home made gym, Dave decides that with no training, no girlfriend and no muscle, he’s getting nowhere fast.

Then something changes his life. Now, 17 stone of rippling muscle but still no girlfriend, Dave is a walking time-bomb.

Yes, he got the body he wanted, but now he’s losing his mind in a body he can’t control.

Described as bleak, funny and shocking, Beef is a story of revenge gone wrong in a world that doesn’t seem to make sense.
