Officers appeal to crash witness

Thursday 26th March 2009, 10:46AM GMT.

Police today appealed for a driver to come forward after a motorcyclist was left seriously injured after losing control on a Telford road.

The 36-year-old male biker suffered serious internal injuries in the crash on the A4169 Ironbridge bypass on Sunday afternoon.

He was riding his Honda motorcycle from the direction of Woodside towards Jiggers Bank, when he lost control at the junction of Stoney Hill.

He was taken to The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, where he remains in a “serious but stable” condition today.

Police want to trace one motorist who was using the road at the time of the crash.

Denise Wakefield, Telford Police spokeswoman, said: “We have managed to ascertain that a burgundy/ maroon coloured Honda Civic was travelling along the road around the time of the collision.

“However, we have not managed to speak with this motorist to date and would really like to speak with him or her.

“We believe the motorist could have vital information and we would urge that driver to come forward.

“Even if the driver didn’t see anything that they think is relevant, we would still urge that person to come forward because even the smallest piece of information will help us to build a picture of the circumstances surrounding the collision.”

The driver is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.
