Rose is to make the news
Wednesday 25th March 2009, 11:26AM GMT.
A Shropshire student is set to make the news when she appears on the small screen later this week.
Rose Eglin, 12, of Maesbrook, will help present BBC Midlands Today alongside either Nick Owen or Suzanne Virdee on Friday.
The student at the Corbet School in Baschurch will step into the hotseat as part of BBC News School Report.
The Year Eight pupil will present the programme from the BBC’s Birmingham studios.
Budding reporters from schools across the region are looking at issues that affect them and their peers, including how the current financial climate affects teenagers; what life is like for young carers; problems faced by children moving from primary to secondary education and why social networking sites are so popular with young people.
BBC News School Report gives 11-14 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports.
Tomorrow, schools take part in a news day, simultaneously creating video, audio and text-based news reports, and publishing them on their school websites. The BBC News School Report website will link to these websites from bbc.co.uk/schoolreport
Students’ reports will also be available on the BBC’s red button service and there will be coverage throughout the day.
