Delay after train fault

Wednesday 25th March 2009, 10:31AM GMT.

Commuters in Shropshire faced delays today after a train broke down at Wellington station.

Passengers were forced to get off the Arriva Trains Wales train at Wellington when it came to a halt at 7.45am. Train bosses put on buses to take passengers to the final destination of Birmingham International.

Maggie Abbett, Arriva Trains Wales spokeswoman, said: “Services to and from Shrewsbury and Birmingham are not stopping at Wellington – the station is being by-passed.

“I believe the problem is due to a coupling fault.”
