Early birds to benefit from frozen prices
Tuesday 24th March 2009, 1:25PM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town fans willing to commit early can snap up a bargain for the 2009/10 campaign – with early season ticket prices frozen for a third consecutive year.
Adult tickets will cost £255 in category B seats and £306 in category A, and will be on sale between April 1 and May 1.
The prices will apply whether Town win promotion or not, meaning fans taking the plunge could make significant savings if Shrewsbury do end up in League One.
Shrewsbury currently have around 3,000 season ticket holders, including the members of the Sovereign Club.
Chairman Roland Wycherley said: “In these difficult economic times we are continually seeking ways to help our fans come to the Prostar Stadium.
“We are effectively freezing prices for the third season in a row for fans that take the early bird offer, whilst at the same time ensuring continuing stability of the club.”
No decision has yet been taken on prices after the deadline for early bird sales has expired, but managing director Rob Bickerton believes scores of fans will take up the offer.
“Our experience from previous years is that the vast majority of, if not all, season ticket holders take advantage of the early bird prices,” he revealed.
“It’s a good time to offer it now because it’s before the summer and people can start to plan. One thing we have noticed is that more people are taking advantage of the finance package, as it gives them a way of smoothing the cost – most things seem to be done that way in this day and age.
“The motivation for doing this now is absolutely down to doing our best to get our supporters to watch us.”
A junior season ticket for under-11s is available from £34, while family tickets for one adult and one child are from £272. Season tickets for OAPs, diasabled supporters and students are from £170.
