Motorcyclist and climber injured
Monday 23rd March 2009, 10:51AM GMT.
Two people were airlifted to hospital following separate incidents in Shropshire.
A teenage motorcyclist was flown to hospital with a broken ankle after a crash on a road near Ludlow, while a man in his 20s was airlifted after falling at an outdoor activity centre near Baschurch.
Paramedics found the 17-year-old boy’s motorbike under the front of a car close to Ludlow Racecourse yesterday afternoon.
An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene at about 1.30pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: “The rider, a 17-year-old from Ludlow, had suffered a fractured ankle.
“His condition was stabilised and he was given fluids before being airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. What undoubtedly saved him from more serious injury was the fact that the teenager was wearing full leathers and a crash helmet.”
Elsewhere, a 21-year-old man from Coventry, who fell backwards while tackling an obstacle course at Boreatton Park, Baschurch, was airlifted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The incident happened at about 11.30am yesterday.
