Meetings on bid for more windfarms
Monday 23rd March 2009, 6:59PM GMT.
Spiralling concerns over the expansion of windfarms in Montgomeryshire will be tackled in a series of public meetings.
Lembit Opik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, has organised the latest meetings in a bid to gauge public opinion.
Now he is urging residents, both for and against the schemes, to attend.
The first meeting will be on April 3 at Dolfor, near Newtown.
Mr Opik said: “Following five previous meetings to gauge public opinion over planning applications for windfarms in the area, I have decided to hold another four to give those who have not yet had the opportunity the chance to discuss the issue with key figures in the decision-making process.
“The meetings have generated vigorous and sometimes heated debate. It has been extremely useful to hear from all sides on this issue, and I hope everyone feels they have been equally listened to.”
He said the meetings would give more people a chance to voice their opinions.
The meetings will be held on April 3 at Dolfor Village Hall, at 5pm, and Kerry Village Hall, at 7pm; and on April 6 at Cefn Coch Inn, Llanfair Caereinion, at 5pm, and Meifod Village Hall, at 7pm.
