Michelin-star holder Raymond Blanc to offer crunch recipe
Friday 20th March 2009, 10:00AM GMT.
The Shropshire’s Star Credit Munch campaign was today given another enormous boost with the support of one of the world’s finest chefs.
Raymond Blanc, who holds two Michelin stars, backed the Shropshire Star’s campaign to give readers low-cost/high-quality recipes, using local produce.
Mr Blanc is a self-taught chef and said the campaign had resonance for his restaurant chain Brasserie Blanc which also offers high quality affordable food.
He said: “My passion for food and cooking came from my mother, Maman Blanc, and my father. He was an excellent gardener and my mum an excellent cook.
“My father, as he introduced me to gardening, seasonality and produce gathered from nearby forests, such as snails and wild mushrooms.
“I also understood early that the table is the most important place in the house where the family meets, laughs and argues together around the table. It is a natural place to share, communication and celebrate.”
