Crew to film an advert in town

Friday 20th March 2009, 10:41AM GMT.

Lights, camera, action! Ludlow was today being transformed into a film set by crews making a commercial advertising tour-ism in the West Midlands.

A 40-strong crew was in the Market Square to record footage for the 30- second advert, to be screened around Easter.

The Gate Films production company is making the commercials on behalf of Advantage West Midlands for the Tourist Board.

Today is the last day of filming, which has already seen the crew take in two other towns – Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Yesterday, a Shakespeare play was filmed in a mock-up theatre at Stokesay Castle, with 100 extras.

Sarah Jarvis, senior producer for The Gate Films, said: “Ludlow has been picked because it’s a pretty market town well known for its quality food.

“The tag line of the project is ‘Love the Heart of England’ and the people should be very proud of the town.”
