Boy hit by two cars is critical

A nine-year-old boy was critically ill in hospital today after being struck by two cars, one of which failed to stop, in an accident near Ellesmere.
The youngster was struck by the cars which were travelling along the A539 on the outskirts of Overton, at about 7.30pm yesterday.
He was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital and has since been transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “At 7.32pm on Thursday, North Wales Police were called to attend a report of a road traffic collision on the A539 Wrexham, between Erbistock and the outskirts of Overton.
“A nine-year-old boy has sustained serious injuries and is currently in a critical condition at hospital after being struck by two cars.
“One vehicle did not stop and police are appealing for the driver of that vehicle, or any witnesses to the collision, to come forward.
“The road is closed and is expected to remain closed until mid-morning at the earliest while a detailed investigation takes place. Diversions are in place.

A North Wales Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed they attended the scene and a patient was taken to hospital.
