Care worker admits neglect case
Thursday 19th March 2009, 12:18PM GMT.
A 49-year-old care worker has admitted wilfully neglecting a patient at a Shropshire home for adults with learning disabilities.
June Furmage pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court yesterday to neglecting Dawn Saunders by failing to seek medical advice.
The court heard Furmage had been employed as a care worker at Harefield House at Bleathwood, near Ludlow.
In March last year Furmage was said to have failed to get medical help after Miss Saunders was given incorrect medication.
Furmage, of Stanbrook Road, Tenbury Wells, pleaded not guilty to charges of ill treating Miss Saunders by deliberately administering the medication and to neglecting Neil Wright by not seeking medical advice.
Miss Abigail Nixon, prosecuting, said the pleas by Furmage were accepted by the court. Furmage will be sentenced in July.
Miss Nixon told the court an initial allegation of administering a poison was no longer being proceeded with.
