Why aren’t the Shropshire Star acknowledging they and their Tory buddy Mark Pritchard got it wrong blaming Gordon Brown?
The star and Mr P were quick to jump on a passing bandwagon but now the truth is coming out, they don’t have the decency to admit they got it wrong. Mark Pritchard has disappeared from the face of the planet….

Don’t forget all the other Wrekin workers and staff at the other regional offices – we at the Raunds Northants office were called in last Wednesday (11th March) made to wait all day without knowing anything and late in the afternoon told that we were redundant. A single representative of Ernst and Young (The Administrators) seemed to know less than we did………..!!
This was a shabby way to treat people who have been with the company for some years and to my knowledge our order book and profitability at the Eastern Area office have not been the problem.
Best wishes to all former colleagues

Very true Jon – and Unwin seems to be keeping a pretty low profile as well.

What meeting at the yard on Tuesday 10th March. I heard about it all on the news. No letter no phone call no nothing from Wrekin. After 22 years service me and loads of others deserved better from Wrekin

At the end of the day Stephen Rhodes this is nothing to do with Wrekin. Wrekin always treats or treated its employee’s fairly and I should know that.
Sometime management have to make tough decisions but do you really think these decisions were reached without plenty of sleepless nights?
At the end of the day the truth will emerge when the dust has settled.

Terrible shame that such a major employer is collapsing. Even more of a shame is that a company with such a nationally known reputation is no longer representing shropshire.
The greatest shame is for the staff and their families who will now be facing the terrors of the benefits system, trying to keep their homes and maintain the standard of living that they have worked so hard to achieve. Working for a construction company is hard. Early starts, bad weather, physically demanding and at times dangerous despite the training and safety awareness.
These workers have earned the right to be upset. Their feelings need to be validated and answers need to be given.
In the meantime good luck to the workers in finding new employment and in moving forward to maybe even a better life style. A small group of labourers with a truck and some equipment would surely have a chance to win some decent contracts from the council and to starty their own business cleaning up areas, repairing samll sections of roads, replacing bollards etc etc. The work is out there. Get organised and go for it.
