Wrekin crisis dominates headlines
Sunday 15th March 2009, 11:00AM GMT.
In this week’s Shropshire Star Sunday Supplement podcast, Andy Richardson and Carl Jones look at the big news stories from the past seven days.
The story which has most dominated the headlines is the crisis at Wrekin Construction, where hundreds of workers have been officially laid off after the administrators were called in when the Royal Bank of Scotland refused to offer financial help, despite the firm having secured £40 million in future contracts.
Elsewhere, Telford and Wrekin Council has struck deal with Asda for the supermarket giant to take over the civic offices in Malinslee.
Looking ahead to next week’s Shropshire Star we’ll be looking at both sides of the story over the plans for a waste incinerator at Harlescott in Shrewsbury.
Tuesday’s Star Woman supplement will be looking ahead to Mother’s Day, with plenty of ideas for ways to spoil your mum and throughout the week we’ll be promoting the Pride Of Shropshire awards, with only 10 days left to get your nominations in.
