Missing man may feature on TV appeal
Saturday 14th March 2009, 10:55AM GMT.
A Shropshire man who disappeared two months ago could feature on a BBC television programme trying to find some of the 200,000 people reported missing nationwide each year.
Trevor Oliver, 49, was last seen at his home in Copthorne Road, Shrewsbury, by a neighbour on January 14.
He was reported missing two days later, when the same neighbour was unable to contact him.
His face could soon be seen by millions of viewers as part of an attempt to find out what has happened to him. Police say there is real concern for his safety.
His case is expected to feature on an edition of BBC Missing Live, which follows the work of police and the charity Missing People.
The charity has produced a poster appealing for help to trace Mr Oliver and it will put forward his disappearance to appear on one of the live programmes, which will start on Monday and will run every weekday for four weeks from 9.15am to 10am.
Constable Deb Wheeler, of Shrewsbury Police, said: “It is extremely unusual for Mr Oliver not to have been in any contact at all with people he knows and he usually tells somebody if he is going away for any length of time.
“He has now not been seen or heard from for two months and there is real concern for his safety and wellbeing. This is out of character for him and his family and friends are very worried.”
Mr Oliver is about about 5ft 5ins tall and stocky. He has brown hair and was clean-shaven when he disappeared, with a pock-marked face.
