Mascot becomes manager
Friday 13th March 2009, 11:57AM GMT.
The latest transfer between two Welsh football clubs could be described as barking mad.
Spot the Dog – or at least the man who played him – has quit Oswestry-based The New Saints (TNS) to join Technogroup Welshpool.
Liam Pritchard, who has played Spot the Dog for four years, is becoming general manager of Welshpool.
He will assist in the club administration for the remainder of the season, before taking on the general manager role.
Mr Pritchard, 24, from Llanfechain, said “I enjoyed my time as mascot for TNS, but I felt I needed a fresh challenge. This opportunity came up and I decided to grasp it with both hands.
“This represents a big challenge for me, but one I am relishing. The club faces a lot of challenges over the next few years and I am looking forward to ensuring Technogroup Welshpool continue to push forward.
“I hope to make a lot of positive changes and help take the club forward during my role as general manager,” he added.
