Carter looks forward

Chairman Lee Carter cannot wait for AFC Telford United’s big FA Trophy semi-final to arrive – after the “worst week” of his career.
The Bucks host York City in the first leg on Saturday, with a crowd in excess of 3,000 expected as they look to step a big step closer to Wembley.
And it cannot come soon enough for Carter, who has had to deal with the fall-out from striker Terry Fearns’ arrest as well as trying to boost morale after a couple of disappointing league displays.
“It’s been the worst week we’ve ever had and I can’t wait for the football now so we can get back on track,” said Carter.
“It is, without doubt, the biggest game we’ve had in the five years we’ve been going. With everything that has gone on this week, it’s the one thing that has kept us going and we can go into it with no pressure.
“No-one expected us to beat Southport in the last round or Kettering before that, and no-one will be expecting us to win again this time so we can relax.
“We have got a sniff of repeating what the great Telford teams of the 1980s and early 1970s did, and I never thought we would be in this position.”
Carter is now focusing on all the organisational work that goes on behind the scenes to stage such a big game, but insists he relishes the task.
“York have sold around 500 tickets for their end so far and it is a big operation for us – but this is what we want to be all about,” he added.
