Blow for village green bid

Thursday 12th March 2009, 1:58PM GMT.

Ludlow campaigners look set to lose their battle to have a patch of land declared a village green after councillors were recommended to refuse the application.

The proposal to turn land in Ludford into a village green goes before county councillors on March 17.

William Hough Lloyd-Kitchen submitted the application last April claiming the land, known as The Green, had been used for 20 years by local people for sports and pastimes.

But council officers claim the only activity that took place was gardening.
