Youths in ‘nasty’ attack on boy, 13
Wednesday 11th March 2009, 10:50AM GMT.
A 13-year-old boy was knocked unconscious when he was attacked by a gang in Telford.
The teenager was leaving an address in Acacia Drive, Leegomery, when he was attacked by a group of up to six youths. They then chased him and attacked him for a second time. The incident happened on Friday at 7pm.
Denise Wakefield, Telford Police spokeswoman, described the attack as a “particularly nasty assault”.
“He was taken to hospital and suffered lumps and scratches to his head, eye, hands and neck,” she said.
It came on the same night as a man was dragged along Station Road, Wellington, by a passing car after he was attacked by a gang. The 20-year-old was involved in an argument with up to six men before he was attacked.
The gang punched and kicked him before he managed to flee. The gang chased the victim towards Whitchurch Road, where he tripped and was clipped by a passing car, which dragged him further down the road.
The attack happened between 11pm on Thursday and 12.50am on Friday.
Chris Ammonds, Telford police spokesman, said: “This is an unusual incident in terms of how long it went on for and we are keen to establish exactly what happened.”
Anyone with information about either attack is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.
