What’s bin going on?
Wednesday 11th March 2009, 10:50AM GMT.
A man found himself the centre of attention in Shrewsbury this morning when he got his head wedged in a rubbish bin in the town centre.
The man became trapped in the cast iron bin outside Boots, in Pride Hill, at about 9.30am and quickly drew a large crowd of interested passers by, some of whom took pictures of the unfortunate man on their phones.
Nicola Smith, a supervisor at the Superdrug store in Pride Hill, said: “He was looking in the bin sideways – I don’t know what for – and he got his head caught in there.”
Shrewsbury fire station crew manager Simon Roberts said: “We released the pressure on his head by putting something inside the bin and lifting him up. It took about five minutes.”
Police spokeswoman Maria Hawkaluk said the man was checked over by the ambulance service after being freed. He was not injured.
