Ainsley Harriott said he was right behind our plans to encourage people to eat good quality, low cost food.

The star of Ready Steady Cook said it was an inspired idea that was similar in some ways to the popular TV programme he hosts.

He said: “Ready Steady Cook is all about giving people a little inspiration, so that they create their own dishes using simple ingredients.

“We aim to create tasty dishes on a budget and the results are usually amazing. It’s great news that the Shropshire Star is encouraging its readers to do something similar.

Credit Munch is running in March and April with the finest chefs from Shropshire and Mid Wales telling readers how they can cook gourmet dinners on a budget.

The campaign also spotlights a group of local producers, who supply the region’s markets and shops with top quality food and drink.

Today, we publish the first recipe of our campaign – a Fidget Pie created by the twin-starred AA chef Stuart Phillips, of the Hundred House Inn, at Norton, between Telford and Bridgnorth.
