School in new head plea

A tiny south Shropshire school that was threatened with closure is now back on track and has launched a fresh appeal for a new head teacher.
When campaigners in Lydbury North won their battle to keep their village school open at the end of last year, governors immediately set about advertising for a new head.
The school has managed without a head since 2007 and despite previous advertising, governors found there had not been one applicant.
But now they have launched a new appeal and are hoping there will be a quick take-up to get a new head teacher in as soon as possible.
Nikki Pugh, vice-chairman of the governors, said: “The headteacher left in 2007 and, ironically, the first advert for a replacement went in the media in the same week that Shropshire County Council announced their new policy to possibly close small schools.
“Needless to say we didn’t have one applicant.
“Luckily our very enthusiastic and able class one teacher stepped up to the mark and took over the role of acting head, although I don’t think anybody ever envisaged that scenario lasting for more than 12 months.”
Applications for the vacant head teacher’s post at the school should be made by calling 08456 789004 or alternatively e-mailing srt.requestjobpack@shropshire.gov.uk

If the class one teacher has been doing the job for nearly two years and is ‘enthusiastic and able’ then give them the job!, if this person has managed the school through such a difficult time surely they are just what is needed.

Why not keep the acting head they have, they seem to know what they are doing and have done it for long enough now anyway.
