Men are fined for breach of orders

Friday 6th March 2009, 12:05PM GMT.

Three Shrewsbury men have been slapped with fines totalling more than £700 after they failed to surrender their passports and report to police before England’s match against Spain.

Steven Croft, 42, of Myddle, Jamie Hudson, 24, of New Park Road, Castlefields, and Nicholas Rogers, 21, of Wayford Close, Meole Brace, all admitted failing to surrender their passports to police on February 6 or 7 and to report to police on February 11– the day of the match – between 6pm and 9pm.

They were arrested on February 17 at their homes.

Croft was fined £535 for failing to comply with a three-year order imposed by Wrexham Magistrates Court in June 2006.

Mr Stephen Scully, for Croft, said his client did receive the letter asking him to report to police but he “simply forgot”.

Hudson was fined £115 as he is unemployed for failing to comply with a six-year ban imposed by Nottingham Crown Court in 2006.

Mr John MacMillan, for Hudson, said his client forgot about the letter.

Rogers was fined £115 as he is also out of work for failing to comply with a three-year order imposed by Walsall Aldridge Magistrates Court in 2008.

Mr Scully, for Rogers, said his client said he did not receive the letter telling him he had to report to police and give in his passport.

All three men were ordered to pay £60 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
